What video lectures are available for purchase?
There are currently three video courses that range from beginner to advanced. These lectures are created to teach real-world strategy and frameworks based around L/S portfolio management that is used at institutional levels of trading & portfolio management.
The Intro To Trading & PM program is a foundational lecture series that any investor who does not have prior institutional trading experience can benefit from. The ATP is for active trading and focuses on short-term trading principles which is what most investors are used to when they think about trading, however, the approach we teach is different so please read it. Finally, the FOPT is for those who have larger portfolios, experience and a desire to deploy a L/S portfolio management approach which is more than just ‘trading’ the markets.
Please read each FAQ section on the lectures below so that you understand what they are as they are different approaches. If you still have questions please use the contact form here.
What’s the difference between trading & portfolio management?
A portfolio manager is focused on research, generating consistent trading ideas and then managing that risk through those various long/short positions in a portfolio. Those positions might be a mix of short-term and longer-term (defined as 3-12 months) ideas. Those who manage larger sums of capital and who do not want to actively watch positions in a portfolio are better suited for portfolio management concepts.
Portfolio management is not typically discussed in retail trading education because most education is delivered by non-Professional traders who have not, or do not, manage larger portfolios so the type of concepts taught are typically based around momentum, indicators and other generic concepts.
Trading is more concerned with short-term volatility where price-action and other concepts are used to capture that volatility through momentum based strategy.
Our views are that both work because the idea of ‘one being better’ than the other is subjective based on the individual investor, their portfolio size, goals and experience.
As an example, someone managing a $1,000,000 portfolio will be more suited toward a long/short portfolio management approach whereas someone with a smaller portfolio is better suited toward trading.
There is a ‘case study’ example here about users of our research to help understand this view better.
Can I just become an intern for your company instead to learn?
Yes. If you are currently enrolled in a finance or economics program we accept 2-3 interns per semester & Summer. This is a great way to learn with us on our investment management side of the business because you’ll get a first hand experience of the research and portfolio management process.
If you meet this criteria please contact us here.
Do I need prior experience to apply the concepts in the lectures?
Anyone with a basic understanding of the markets, common sense and a desire to actually learn new frameworks can participate and come out with a Professional view on how to generate trade ideas and begin managing their portfolios. The content in our lectures here is real-world application, not theory based or hypothetical in nature so we do not cover generic concepts. As such if you do not have a basic understanding of the markets you can learn for free from these following resources.
Yale Financial Markets, By Robert Shiller (Free)
Khan Academy, Derivatives (Free)
Additionally, you can simply learn more about our views by watching the weekly videos we put out and subscribing to our email list. Please do not email in asking for suggested books to read. Learning to manage a portfolio cannot be done from reading a book and is learned by actual experience and education to understand how to implement analysis, portfolio structuring and risk.
For the F.O.P.T participants are required to have some prior experience and a minimum account size. However, for those who meet the portfolio size and who complete the ITPM and ATP they will be able to use the concepts discussed in the F.O.P.T
Introduction to Trading & Portfolio Management
Introduction to Trading & Portfolio Management - If you are someone using technical analysis concepts, macro or other frameworks that are not providing consistency then these lectures are of benefit. You will learn to understand how to manage a portfolio of US equities and equity options through the professional long/short approach while learning how Professionals generate consistent, repeatable trading ideas while learning to manage your personal portfolio with consistent results.
The core concepts discussed in here are:

The A.T.P - Active Trading Program
Active Trader Program - This is a Professional grade lecture series that teaches active trading principles with a repeatable, systematic approach. If you are someone that does not have the need/want to manage a L/S portfolio and only want to focus on actively-trading short-term hold times then this is an ideal approach. The original lecture series here was created in 2015 and was originally 5 hours, it was revised in 2025 and is now 3x the size with over 15 hours of lectures and concepts that allow participants to trade equity or equity options.
There are no concepts discussed in this lecture series regarding macro, economics or fundamentals of analyzing a company because the approach is reliant on a 50% quantitative and 50% price-action analysis model. This means you will learn to use a systematic approach to both the trade strategy and stock-selection process so you can learn to harness volatility in the markets that allow for actively trading intraday and in the 1-5 day window.
The lectures here are concise and only discuss what matters so that you can begin executing on the frameworks discussed while working toward building out a personal active trading Playbook which is discussed and explained in great detail.
You can view a short video of the lectures and more information here.
Cost: $4,495
The FOPT Lectures
Foundations of Professional Trading (F.O.P.T) - The F.O.P.T is the flagship lecture series designed to teach a true Professional long/short approach to trading, investing and portfolio management. This approach and concepts discussed are used at long/short hedge funds but broken down into a manner that can be applied into US equities and US equity options. The top-down approach consists of the following concepts:
Idea Generation: Fundamental (balance sheet & income statement) analysis, thematic idea flows, macro & economic analysis & price-action idea flows.
Market-Timing: Learning to assess risk, soft-targets and entry catalysts via price-action overlay.
Trade Structuring: Learning to structure the trade through equity and/or equity option structures to maximize returns and build out a portfolio.
Portfolio Structuring: Learning to build out a risk-adjusted portfolio of 3-10 long/short ideas while actively trading short-term flows.
These frameworks will teach you to tune out unnecessary noise, ignore data that is not useful and to begin to actually generate trading ideas that you can build out a L/S portfolio of equity and equity option trades. The lecture series is over +50 hours but delivered in a manner where you can digest it easily and build upon each framework - you should expect to commit at least 6-months to learning the L/S portfolio management approach.
You should be someone who has a minimum $100K portfolio (the average of FOPT members is $500K, with the largest being $7m) to properly apply the concepts you are going to learn otherwise it will be of no practical use since we are focused on building out L/S portfolios and NOT just trading short term idea flow.
To benefit from this you need to be someone who:
Is not looking for shortcuts or ‘simple’ strategies
Already profitable on some level but wants to increase that and deploy a portfolio management approach
Has a minimum $100K USD portfolio
Someone who is committed to structure and analysis
Those who are focused on generating compounding, risk-adjusted returns and not just chasing random trades
If you are not at this stage just yet, please use the ITPM or ATP Lecture series to build out other frameworks. For those that do successfully complete those and want to take the FOPT please contact us for a discounted rate to FOPT since you would have completed the ITPM or ATP already.
Enrollment Options for FOPT
The FOPT has two options for participants and both include an on-boarding Zoom call as well as 3-hours of 1-on-1 Q&A time via zoom that can be used in 1 hour increments.
Option 1: Self Study Option - You choose to only access the video lectures and go the route of learning on your own. You can still access the 3-hours of Zoom Q&A, on-boarding call and subscribe to the research if you want but will not have access to DeltaOne or the LongVol Report unless you purchase a membership.
Cost: $8,500
Option 2: DeltaOne/Research Option - You can go through the lectures at your own pace but then use DeltaOne, our private community of other FOPT members who apply the same L/S principles and who manage considerable sums of capital and who you can not only learn from but also soundboard ideas off of. This also allows you to ask questions about the FOPT and have discussions that are specific to the concepts you are learning because everyone else is also ‘speaking the same language’.
You retain access to DeltaOne for 12 months which also includes The LongVol Report.
