Why Idea Flow Matters.

A post on how to generate idea flow from the report ahead of time and what I look for in triggers to get an idea from an idea to execution.

Without idea flow you’re cooked.

In this post I am going to explain to you a bit about why idea flow matters and how I go about using the idea flow each week in the report to setup the week ahead. I really don’t get into this much because it’s been my job the last +18 years to trade and invest in markets but I realize that it’s a benefit for readers and potential readers of The LongVol Report. The good news is I just got off a call with one of my Summer interns and I walked him through the “Top Ideas” from the report this week and explained to him the process for finding the best ideas each week, working the charts up then understanding how to execute on the idea if that idea in fact triggers.

But the point in all this is that you need idea flow and the average investor lacks it, usually relying on impulsive ideas, market recaps each night, (IDK why you guys feel the need to do that each night btw) or however else they get idea flow.

The point we’re hammering home in this post is taking idea flow from the tracking it phase to actually “trigger” phase meaning you put the risk/trade on.

Here is what this post is going to do:

  • Show you how to track an idea from the report from start to finish each week by reading the notes, the chart and then adding it to your list or moving on

  • Explain to you the $ETSY ( ▲ 2.88% ) position I already have on (with the actual position) and why/when I would add into it if the next trigger occurs

  • Explain to you the $AFRM ( ▼ 0.82% ) idea from tracking to trigger entry

  • Discuss why $TSM ( ▼ 2.12% ) even with great earnings is still in the report but an idea that needs to reset before we get a new trigger long

In short, this is going to be a walk through to show you how I use part of the report to filter the idea flows that are of interest to me from start to finish, with price targets. You don’t need a lot of ideas, you just need to understand how to find the ideal ones then execute on them so that you can extract as much as possible.
